Although we are able to offer very high value services at prices which we keep as low as possible, we appreciate that some participants may still need financial assistance with the costs. We offer concessionary prices to members of a number of organisations, including Shooting People, DGGB, WGGB and the NPA. Although there are not many bursary opportunities, the following organisations may be able to help you with payment for your course. It's worth checking them out, they may include opportunities you hadn't thought of. However, some of the schemes have strict deadlines and we advise you to make your approaches to them in good time. Your Local Authority All local authorities have provision to assist adults in their area who need further training. In some cases, they may even have specific funds to help with media training. Each local authority works differently, but is definitely worth approaching. Film London Film London has a limited number of bursaries for those based in the London area. Details can be found at http://www.filmlondon.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=928 Your local development agency If you are not based in London, you may also find similar assistance from your own local media development agency - if you don't know your agency check the UKFC regions page. Arts Council The Arts Council also supports individual artists with small bursaries for professional development and training opportunities in the arts and arts management, organised by region. Check which region applies to you at http://www.arts.org.uk/regions/index.php Skillset A number of different schemes for supporting people who need training in the industry can be found through Skillset. The website and the choices can be bewildering, but Skillset also offer to help guide you through what you need if you contact them. http://www.skillset.org/ UK Film Council Training and script assessment costs for individuals and production companies can be included in applications to the UK Film Council for script development support. www.ukfilmcouncil.org.ukThank you to those of you who have written in with information on financial help for training. If you hear of any new bursary opportunities, please tell us and we'll post the information on this page. |
